Women’s President’s Cup Qualifications

Region III

2009-2010

The objective for President’s Cup is to field our strongest team composed of the top 10 players in our region.

This "team" competition will be held on Thursday March 5th in Philadelphia. PA.  Point standings will be available to all players after each tournament by checking our website (maptapaddle.com) or by calling the Region III ,President’s Cup Chairperson, Patti Burkhart. One week before the final qualifier, the Wilmington Women’s Open, a letter will be sent to the top 16 contenders, inquiring as to whether they are able to participate in President’s Cup. With this information, the individuals who finish the season with the top ten totals will immediately be notified and the team can begin preparing for competition. At this time a commitment must be made, to prevent last minute scrambling.

Eligibility

Qualifications

  1. The top ten point earners, who commit to play, will qualify for the team based on point totals accrued from the best 3 of 5 designated President’s Cup qualifying tournaments (PCQ) - there is no minimum # of tournaments.

    PA States  - Jan. 9 & 10th

  1. PCQs will be open
    1. Full points will be awarded to all finishers regardless of the national ranking of any Region III partner.
    2. No points will be awarded to teams who default (injury related defaults, are the only exception).
    3.

    4. Ties will be determined in the following order:
        1. Head to head results.
        2. Number of President’s Cup Qualifying tournaments entered and evaluation of quality of teams beaten.
        3. Flip of a coin.

Once the top ten players are determined, actual partnerships will be selected at the discretion of the qualified players and ultimately the Region III Chairperson or designated captain.
